A thoughtful and excellent analysis. I remember this tragic accident.
Incidentally, I was on an EMB-120 that had to make an emergency landing at an airbase due to ice buildup in the wings. Almost didn’t make it. My recollection was the ice was more than an inch thick and the pilots were barely able to control the flight to land it.
Not something one can easily forget. I wish I could remember exactly when it was but sometime before 1995, maybe 1992.
These planes were known for propeller over speed situations that led to several crashes including one that killed Senator Tower in Georgia.
I learned to avoid flying this aircraft after my incident.
