Hi CJ:

Just not buying it CJ. You make some good points but with the current situation in the market (overvalued and looking at a major correction in 2022-23) you would be foolish to count on 10% returns when historical returns are closer to 5%.

I agree with other readers that paying off your mortgage gives you financial freedom...you can do so many other things with your $ rather than ship boatloads to the bank like an indentured servant for 30 years!

My advice: grit your teeth and pay it off as early as you can. You can take a 30 year but paying additional payments can take it down to 23 years with a few extra $ per year. Banks were willing to give even shorter terms (my last montage was a 10 year...we paid off in 7.

I'm saying go in the opposite direction pay it off early and be free.
